Vice president Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has announced that the 100,000 jobs to be created under the Nation Builders Corps, NABCO, the initiative will be launched May 1, 2018.
NABCO is aiming to reduce unemployment in Ghana and this initiative will be launched by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on May Day.
The programme will operate seven modules designed to meet the pressing needs of the nation while providing jobs for the teeming youth who have received the tertiary education but are struggling to find jobs.
This was said by Dr Bawumia at the 22nd Congregation of the University of Education, Winneba. According to him, 100,000 graduates who have completed their National Service are expected to be engaged under NABCO this year.
As he challenged the new graduates to “go out there and make a difference”, Dr Bawumia said the government is finding solutions to solve the unemployment situation among graduates.
“Last year Ghana’s economy grew from 3.7% to 8.5%; that was the fastest growing economy in the world last year. But this growth has to translate into jobs.
A total of 16,153 students received Certificates, Diplomas, First and second Degrees and Postgraduate awards at the University’s 22nd Congregation.
